Largest media scavenger hunt

The largest media scavenger hunt is ‘Greatest International Scavenger Hunt the World Has Ever Seen’, which was carried out by 14,580 participants and organised by Misha Collins (USA) between 29 October and 5 November 2012. 972 teams took part in the record attempt and each team was made up of 15 participants. The winning team was Badwolf.

Largest military air show

The annual Royal International Air Tattoo at RAF Fairford, Gloucestershire, UK, is the world’s largest military air show in terms of participating aircraft. An average of 350 static and flying aircraft attend each year, with a record total of 535 aircraft at the 2003 show. Attendance is around 150,000 anually.

Weighing in at nearly a tonne (2,200 lb), the American bison (Bison bison) is the largest terrestrial animal in North America and the largest land animal to migrate. Although 60 million bison once roamed North America, they were overhunted to near extinction by the end of the 19th century, and wild populations are now limited to a handful of national parks such as Yellowstone in Wyoming and the Wichita Mountains National Wildlife Refuge in Oklahoma. Largest microphone array

The largest microphone array is LOUD (Large acOUstic Data Array Project). It consists of 1,020 microphones gathered in a single array allowing operators to pinpoint, track and amplify individual voices in a crowd. It was built by a team of scientists at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology,(Cambridge, MA, USA) led by Professor Anant Agarwal, and became operational in January 2004.

The largest known protozoans in terms of volume are the extinct calcareous foraminifera (Foraminiferida) of the genus Nummulites. Individuals measuring up to 150 mm (6 in) wide were found in the Middle Eocene rocks of Turkey. The calcareous foraminifera existed in the Eocene geological period, which lasted from about 55 to 38 million years ago. Largest military aircraft by wingspan, bomber

The American ten-engined Convair B-36J ‘Peacemaker’ had a wing span of 70.1 m (230 ft), the longest ever for a bomber. The aircraft, which had a maximum takeoff weight of 185 tonnes (410,000 lb), has been out of service since the late 1950s, when it was replaced by the Boeing B-52. The heaviest bomber in service is the Russian Tupolev Tu-160 ‘Blackjack’ bomber, which has a maximum take-off weight of 275 tonnes (606,270 lb) and a maximum speed of around Mach 2.05 (roughly 2,200 km/h or 1,350 mph). Its empty weight is 110 tonnes (242,500 lb). It has a 54.1 m (177.5 ft) long with a wingspan of 55.7 m (182.7 ft).
