Fermilab, in Batavia, Illinois, USA, produces around 100 billion protons of antimatter every hour. This adds up to around one billionth of a gram each year.
The largest privately owned satellite constellation is the fleet of 66 satellites in cross-linked low-earth orbits owned and operated by Iridium Satellite LLC (USA). The satellite fleet, which orbits at an altitude of 780 km (485 miles), provides global communication coverage allowing the use of a satellite telephone anywhere on Earth.
The largest prostate cancer screening involved 988 participants at an event organised by the Prostate Cancer Centre (Canada) in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, on 21 September 2011. The screening was done via blood drawn from each participant. Each blood sample underwent a Prostate-Specific Antigen (PSA) test, higher levels of which detect prostate cancer in the patient.
The largest aeroplane propeller ever to fly was the 6.9 m (22 ft 6 in) diameter Garuda propeller, fitted to the Linke-Hofmann R II which flew in 1919 and was built in Breslau, Germany (now Wroclaw, Poland). It was driven by four 195 kW (260-hp) Mercedes engines and turned at only 545 rpm. Today, typical single-engine aircraft have propellers of roughly 2 m (6.56 ft) diameter, and turn at approximately 2,500 rpm.
The largest projected image has a total surface area of 16,630.9 m² (179,013 ft²), and was achieved by Robert Lepage and his production company Ex Machina (both Canada). It was projected on the grain silos of the company Bunge in Quebec City, Canada from 20 June – 24 August 2008.
The largest profiterole weighs 57.15 kg (126 lb) and was achieved by Dave Schmidt (USA) of the Wisconsin Baker’s Association at the 160th anniversary of the Wisconsin State Fair in West Allis, Wisconsin, USA, on 11 August 2011. The profiterole was an outsized version of the Wisconsin State Fair’s iconic ‘cream puff.’ The profiterole measured 19.05 cm (7.5 in) in height by 96.52 cm (38 in) in diameter.
The largest pupusa is 4.25 m (13 ft 11 in) and was made by Tropical (El Salvador), a brand of the Coca-Cola company, at Parque de Antiguo Cuscatlán, in San Salvador, El Salvador, on 25 November 2012. The circumference of the pupusa was 13.44 m (44 feet 1 inch). The largest marionette was the mascot to Ottawa’s Ital-Fest measuring 17 m 82 cm (58 ft 5.5 in) in height and was presented by the Villa Marconi Long-Term Care Center during the annual Ital-Fest in Ottawa, Canada, on 6 September 2008. The Ital-Fest is an annual two day festival celebrating culture, traditions and entertainment in recognition of its Canadian-Italian heritage.
The largest punch bag measures 6.97 m (22 ft 10 in) tall and 98 cm (3 ft 2 in) wide. The foam filled bag weighs 800 kg (1,763.7 lbs) and was made by Helio Dipp Jr. and Cintia Schmitt (both Brazil). It was presented and measured in Porto Alegre, Brazil, on 28 March 2009.
