The largest samba band consisted of 1,038 participants at the Cultural Turn organised by Leandro Lehart and the Municipal Secretary of Culture of Sao Paulo (both Brazil) in Republic Square in Sao Paulo, Brazil, on 17 April 2011. Participants were pulled from 22 different schools.
The largest salsa dance consisted of 1686 dancers was achieved by ITESCO at an event organised by the Secretaría de Turismo Coatzacoalcos at Carnaval Coatzacoalcos 2012, in Coatzacoalcos, Veracruz, Mexico on 24 March 2012 All the dancers were students of ITESCO a local university aged between 19-25, only a handful were trained dancers with the majority preparing in the weeks building up to the record attempt with the help of instructors. The largest sandwich weighed 5,440 lb (2,467.5 kg) and was made by Wild Woody’s Chill and Grill, Roseville, Michigan, USA on 17 March 2005. The sandwich contained 68 kg (150 lb) mustard, 468.1 kg (1,032 lb) corned beef, 117.9 kg (260 lb) cheese, 240.4 kg (530 lb) lettuce and 1,618.4 kg (3,568 lb) bread. The sandwich measured 5.34 m (17.5 in) thick and was 3.6 m (12 ft) long and 3.6 m (12 ft wide).
The largest schnitzel weighed 550 kg (1212.54 lbs) and was prepared by Martin Liebscher (Germany) in Rosbach von der Höhe, Germany, 19 May 2011. The schnitzel ripped into smaller peices and was originally 890 kg (1962.11 lbs) heavy. The record weight, 550 kg (1212.54 lbs) is the weight of the lartest single part.
The largest scavenger hunt consisted of 924 participants and was organised by the University of Chicago Scavenger Hunt at the University of Chicago’s campus in Chicago, Illinois, USA, on 6 May 2011. The 924 participants were divided into 231 teams of four. The record breaking attempt took place at the 25th annual University of Chicago Scavenger Hunt.
The largest sausage weighed 1,740 kg (3,8402 lb 61 oz) and was made by Kayseri Greater Municipality (Turkey) in Kayseri, Turkey, on 4 October 2009. The diameter of the sausage was 35mm (1.3 in) and the length 1,530 metres (5,019 ft 8 in). 1,630 kg (3,593 lb 8 oz) of minced beef was used for the attempt. It was then transported to a public square where it was cooked by 250 people.
The world’s largest sauna is the “Koi-Sauna” measuring 166.10 m² (1,787.88 ft²), located at the Badewelt Sinsheim GmbH in Sinsheim, Germany, and was opened in December 2012. It took a year to build the huge bath where the sauna is located. On a total area of 3,000 m² (32,291.6 ft²) there are several themed saunas, swimming pools and 400 real palm plants. The largest satchel measures 4.17 m (13 ft 8 in) long, 2.87 m ( 9 ft 5 in) tall and 1.27 m (4 ft 2 in) deep and was created by Yogeshbhai Thakorbhai Chavda (India) and was presented and measured in Kadod, Gujarat, India, on 12 June 2011. The satchel had 6 pockets and the strap was 15.24 m (50 ft).
The largest scone weighed 119.45 kg (263 lb 5 oz) and was prepared by Shaun McCarthy (New Zealand) at Stark Park in Eltham, New Zealand, on 19 August 2010. The scone measured 117 cm (3 ft 10 in) in diameter and 20 cm (7.8 in) in height. Total cooking time was 7 hours 8 minutes.
