According to findings from its first report on global road safety, the World Health Organization states that Eritrea, in Africa, is the deadliest place to travel by road in terms of deaths per capita, with 48 deaths per 100,000 people in 2007. The deaths are all related to road traffic accidents.

The longest painting measured 7,166 m (23,510 ft 5.98 in) and was achieved by 827 children on behalf of the National Union of Eritrean Youth and Students (Eritrea), in Asmara, Eritrea, on 26 November 2011. The National Union of Eritrean Youth and Students (NUEYS) organised this attempt to raise awareness for pollution, deforestation and desertification.
