Heaviest building

The Palace of the Parliament in Bucharest, Romania is believed to be the heaviest building in the world. It is constructed from 700,000 tonnes (1.5 billion lb) of steel and bronze combined with 1 million m³ (35.3 million ft³) of marble, 3,500 tonnes (7.7 million lb) of crystal glass and 900,000 m³ (31.7 million ft³) of wood. Construction began in 1984.

Largest chocolate coin

The largest chocolate coin weighed 265 kg (584 lb 3.59 oz) and was achieved by the Sun Plaza shopping centre in Bucharest, Romania on 17 November 2011. The coin measured 1.35 m in diameter, and was 14 cm thick. The largest Christmas lights decoration in an indoor venue consisted of 449,658 individual lights sources and was achieved by the Sun Plaza shopping centre (Romania) in Bucharest, Romania, on 25 November 2010. The Sun Plaza is the largest shopping centre in Romania (as of today) with 209,000 m2 (0.08 square miles) of constructed area and 86 m2 (0.03 square miles) of retail area with a total of 109 shops. Largest dog shelter

The largest dog rescue shelter is Ute Langenkamp: Iubiti Maidanezii near Pitesti, Romania, which can comfortably house up to 3,000 dogs over an area of 45,543 m² (490,220 ft²). The German-Romanian project has been involved in the sheltering, treating and re-homing of dogs since May 2001. Typically street dogs are rescued from inhumane extermination, fed properly, medically treated (including sterilization) and those who are fit, are re-housed/adopted. The largest salad weighed 19,050 kg (41,998 lb) and was achieved by Kaufland and Salve Club (both Romania) at the Exporom Exhibition Center in Pantelimon, Bucharest, Romania, on 23 September 2012. The salad was presented in a rectangular vessel which measured 17 m and 92 cm (58 ft 9.51 in) in length, 2 m 94 cm (9 ft 7.75 in) in width and 53 cm (1 ft 8.87 in) in depth. Largest umbrella dance

The largest umbrella dance was achieved by 1,461 participants at an event organised by Global e-Business Operations Centre SRL (Romania) at the Arenele Romane, Bucharest, Romania, on 9 September 2011. More than twenty supervisors as well as the two independent witnesses were there to closely monitor the record attempt. The participants danced simultaneously for 6.24 minutes.

Largest wooden spoon

The largest wooden spoon measured 17.79 m (58 ft 4.39 in) in length and 1.50 m (4 ft 11 in) at its widest point, and was made by Centrul Cultural Mioveni (Romania) in Mioveni, Romania, on 7 June 2013. The spoon is an outsized replica of a traditional Romanian spoon.
