Longest sand sculpture

The longest sand sculpture measures 27.3 km (16.96 miles) long and was achieved by the infotainment programme Abenteuer Leben, produced by kabel eins (Germany), with the help of 11,000 volunteers. The event took place on Schaabe beach, on the isle of Rügen, Germany, on 12 June 2011. Special non-coastal sand called “Grubensand” was used to build the sculptures. Longest time flying an airship

The longest ever non-stop flight by an airship, both in terms of distance and duration, was one of 6,384.5 km (3,967 miles), made by Hugo Eckener (Germany) piloting the Graf Zeppelin in November 1928. The flight lasted 71 hours and was made between Lakehurst, New Jersey, USA, and Friedrichshafen, Germany.

Longest TV quiz programme

The longest TV quiz programme lasted for 52 hr 45 min, finishing on 1 September 2003. The show was broadcast on 9Live and co-hosted by Thomas Schürmann, Anna Heesch, Alida-Nadine Kurras, Robin Bade and Jörg Draeger (all Germany) from the studio in Ismaning, Germany. The programme began at 8:15 pm on 29 August and finished at 1.00 am on 1 September 2003.
