The heaviest barbell lifted by a pair weighed 333.3 kg (734.8 lb) lifted by Matthias Steiner and Almir Velagic (both Germany) at the “Ball des Sports” event in Wiesbaden, Germany, on 5 February 2011. Each competitor has participated for Germany in the Olympics, with Steiner winning gold in the +105 kg event in 2008. The duo was required to each lift the bar simultaneously above their heads to the point of locking the arms.
