Mark Stretton (UK) drew a longbow weighing 90 kg (200 lb) to the maximum draw on an arrow of 82.5 cm (32 ½ in) at the shooting grounds of The Bath Archers, Somerset, UK on 15 August 2004. The bow was made by Bickerstaffe Bows (UK), of yew wood, backed with hickory. The arrow was made of aspen (poplar) and fired at a target approxiamately 5 yards away from the archer.
The heaviest living athlete in the world is Sumo wrestler Emmanuel ‘Manny’ Yarborough, of Rahway, New Jersey, USA. He stands 2m 3cm 6ft 8in tall and weighs a colossal 319.3kg 704lb. He was introduced to Sumo by his judo coach and seven years later, he is ranked number one in the Open Sumo Wrestling Category for Amateurs.
The heaviest person in medical history was Jon Brower Minnoch (USA)(1941–83), who had suffered from obesity since childhood. He was 185 cm (6 ft 1 in) tall and weighed 178 kg (392 lb or 28 st) in 1963, 317 kg (700 lb or 50 st) in 1966 and 442 kg (975 lb or 69 st 9 lb) in September 1976. The world’s largest quince weighed 2.34 kg (5 lb 2 oz), measured 21.5 cm (8.5 in) in length and had a circumference of 68 cm (27 in). The quince was grown by Edward Harold McKinney (USA) in Citronelle, Alabama, USA in January 2002. There is no precise date of weighing/measuring – the record was accepted on 15/4/2002.
The heaviest pummelo (Citrus grandis osbeck) weighed 4.858 kg (10 lb 10 oz) when it was presented by Seiji Sonoda (Japan) at the Banpeiyu Competition, Yatsushiro, Kumamoto , Japan on 28 January 2005. Banpeiyu is Japanese for pumelo. Circumference measured: 83.5 cm (32.8 in).
The heaviest pomegranate weighs 1.85 kg (4.08 lb) and 48.7 cm (19.17 in) in circumference. It was grown in Aiguo village, Huili county, Sichuan province, China and was verified at the Pomegranate Competition organised by the People’s Government of Huili County, on 4 September 2009. The pomegranate measured 16 cm (6.2 in) in diameter and 13.8 cm (5.4 in) in vertical diameter.
The heaviest road vehicle pulled with teeth was a double-decker bus weighing 12,360 kg (27,249.14 lbs) and was achieved by Igor Zaripov (Russia) on the set of Officially Amazing (Lion TV) in London, UK, on 15 October 2012.
Hermann Goerner (Germany, 1891 – 1965) unofficially lifted a 330 kg (727.5 lb) bar with his right hand on 8 October 1920 at Leipzig, Germany.. The bar was correctly lifted from the floor to the fully erect position. He officially performed a right-handed deadlift of 301 kg (663½ lb) on 29 October 1920 also at Leipzig using a Berg Olympic revolving bar.
The heaviest red cabbage weighed 19.05 kg (42 lb) and was grown by R. Straw of Staveley, Derbyshire, UK in 1925.
The world’s heaviest radish was grown by Manabu Oono (Japan) and weighed 31.1 kg (68 lb 9 oz) on 9 February 2003 at the Sakurajima Radish Contest, Kagoshima, Japan. It had a circumference of 119 cm (46.8 in).
