Largest underwater hockey tournament

The largest underwater hockey tournament was the Senior Open Division of the 25th New Zealand Secondary Schools’ Underwater Hockey Championships, involving 174 participants across 18 teams, in Christchurch, Canterbury, New Zealand, from 2-6 September 2009. The overall championships consisted of 564 total players on 62 teams across four competitive divisions: Junior Girls, Junior Open, Senior Girls and Senior Open. The tournament consisted of four competition groups: Junior Girls (14 teams), Junior Open (13 teams), Senior Girls (17 teams) and Senior Open (18 teams).

The largest vuvuzela is 35 metres (114 ft 9 in) long and 5.5 metres (18 ft) in diameter at the front. It was created by Hyundai Automotive South Africa and was presented and measured in Cape Town, South Africa, on 26 May 2010. The largest violin is 4.27 m (14 ft) long, has a maximum width of 1.4 m (4.5 ft) and a bow with a length of 5.2 m (17 ft). It was made by the Vogtland masters of violin and bow making (Germany) in Markneukirchen, Germany, and completed on 14 June 2010. The largest vessel water skied /wake boarded behind is the AIDAbella operated by captain Josef Husmann (Germany) with a gross tonnage of 69,203. Galileo TV reporter Jan Schwiderek (Germany) successfully water-skied for six minutes 25 seconds at 14 knots (26 km/h, 16 mph) behind the ship outside of Alicante, Spain, on 1 October 2010. The world’s largest vertical blinds measure 20.1 m (65 ft 11 in) wide and 8.3 m (27 ft 3 in) tall, and were created by Hillarys Blinds of Nottingham, UK in January 2003. The blinds are 75 times larger than the average size.
