Least accurately-known physical constant

The least accurately-known of all of the physical constants of the universe is the Newtonian constant of gravitation, G, often called ‘Big G’. This constant determines how strong the gravity of one body is on another, and vice versa. However, the best determinations of this constant still have an uncertainty of 0.15%. The physical constants of the universe are fundamental numbers, such as the charge on an electron and the speed of light in a vacuum.

Leader of the largest racial equality rally

Civil rights leader Martin Luther King, Jr.  led more than 250,000 demonstrators in a march down the Mall in Washington DC, and then gathered in front of the Lincoln Memorial led on 28 August 1963, to promote the urgency of equal civil rights for all Americans, irrespective of race or colour.

Laziest freshwater turtle

Native to the Mekong River in Cambodia, Cantor’s giant soft-shelled turtle (Pelochelys cantorii) spends 95% of its life motionless in sand on the river bottom waiting for prey to approach. It comes up to the water surface to breathe air only twice each day.

Lightest chair

The lightest chair weighs 0.617 kg (1.36 lbs) and was designed by Massimiliano Della Monaca (Italy). It was presented and weighed in Marina di Carrara, Italy, on 30 October 2008. The chair was part of the CompoDesign exhibition. The chair was tested by an independent testing body for chairs and complies with the EU standard EN 1728:2000. This standard requires the chair to go through a series of tests to estatblish its durability. The chair passed these tests.

Lightest birth – triplets

With a combined weight of 1,385 g (3 lb 0.8 oz) Peyton (585 g (1 lb 4.6 oz)), Jackson (420g (14.8 oz)) and Blake (380g (13.4 oz)) Coffey (all USA) became the lightest triplets to survive when they were born by emergency Cesarean section at the University of Virginia Hospital, Charlottesville, Virginia, USA on 30 November 1998. Peyton was discharged first on 12 March 1999, followed by Blake on 3 April 1999 and Jackson on 9 April 1999.

Lightest hand-held mobile phone

The lightest mobile phone is the modu, which weighs 40.1 g (1.41 oz). It is manufactured by modu ltd. (Israel) and was launched at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain on 11 February 2008. The dimensions are as follows: 72.1 mm x 37.6 mm x 7.8 mm The volume is 21.15 cubic centimetres It has a full-colour screen and 1Gb of internal memory for music & photos

Lightest full-size racing bicycle

Mirko Glöckner (Germany) constructed a full-size racing bicycle called Sub 4.0 weighing 3.89 kg (8 lb 9.2 oz). The cycle has a carbon fibre frame weighing 873 g (1 lb 14.7 oz) and components made of largely of aluminium, titanium, and carbon fibre. The bicycle is completely rideable.

Lightest competitive bodybuilder

The lightest Competitive Body Builder is Thomas Campion (UK) weighing in at 55.5 kg (122.36 lbs), at the British Natural Bodybuilding Federation, United Kingdom, on 2 August 2009. Thomas Campion entered teh over 50’s category for the BNBF Championships and came 4th place in the competition.
