The longest chess marathon lasted 40 hr 20 min between Daniel Häußler and Philipp Bergner (both Germany) at the old town hall in Ostfildern, Germany, between 17-19 December 2010. Häußler won 191 matches to Bergner’s 114. There were 50 draws.

The longest channel in the Solar System is Baltis Vallis, on Venus. It is around 7,000 km (4,300 miles) in length and has an average width of around 1.6 km (1 mile). It was discovered by the Magellan radar mapper, which orbited Venus from August 1990 to October 1994, and is believed to have been formed by molten lava.

Confirmed by GPS, Craig Harrison (UK) of the UK’s Household Cavalry killed two Taliban insurgents from a distance of 2,474 m/2.47 km (8,120 ft, or 1.54 miles) in November 2009. It took the 8.59 mm rounds almost three seconds to hit their targets, which were 914 m (3,000 ft) beyond the L115A3 sniper rifle’s recommended range. A third shot took out the insurgent’s machine gun. The rifle used was by Accuracy International.

The longest note streak on a Guitar Hero game is 3,722 and was achieved by Danny Johnson (USA) while playing ‘Through the Fire and Flames’ on Guitar Hero III (Xbox 360), hitting 100% of the notes, at Book Expo America in New York City, New York, USA, on 30 May 2009. Danny Johnson broke his own record for the Highest score for a single track on Guitar Hero III (Xbox 360) in this same attempt.

The longest continuous moonwalk lasted for 2 hours 30 minutes 50 seconds and was achieved by Michael Frank (Germany) in Eppingen, Germany, on 30 Janurary 2011. Michael is a professional dance instructor and a national dance champion in Germany. He continuously performed Michael Jackson’s iconic “moonwalk” dance move without pausing or taking a rest/bathroom break. At the end of the attempt he stated he could not feel the soles of his feet, but feeling was quickly regained.
