The beams of particles that travel around the accelerator ring at the Large Hadron Collider must operate in a vacuum in order to avoid collisions with gas molecules. In total the LHC contains a vacuum some 54 km long (approx. 33 miles) and is rated as an UHV or Ultra High Vacuum, with 10 times less gas pressure than the almost-vacuum at the surface of the Moon.
The longest UTV ramp jump measures 32.53 m (106 ft 8.64 in) and was achieved by Bennie Martinez (USA) at Southwest Landfill, Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA, on 26 June 2014. A stock 2014 Polaris UTV was used for the attempt.
The longest usable yo-yo was 12.12 m (39 ft 9 in) and was constructed and successfully demonstrated by James Buffington (USA) in Chicago, USA, on 21 May 2011. The yo yo’s diametre was 7.47 cm (2 in)
The longest uninterrupted transmission of a TV series is 234 hours of the series NCIS, broadcast on the FOX International Channels (Japan), from 29 December 2013 to 8 January 2014. FOX International Channels (Japan) broadcast in succession season 1 through 10 of NCIS, which consisted of 234 episodes.
The longest uninterrupted live webcast is 36 hours and 23 seconds, achieved by Susan Baroncini-Moe (USA), in Indianapolis, Indiana, USA, between 27-28 June 2012. The record attempt began at 9.00 am on 27 June and lasted until 9.23 pm on 28 June 2012. The theme of the webcast was business and marketing.
The longest uninterrupted television broadcast was Big Brother V (Endemol Deutschland GmbH) which lasted for a total of 8,763 hours and was broadcast on the Premiere Fernsehen channel, Germany from 2 March 2004 – 1 March 2005. Premiere Fernsehen is a pay-tv operator.
The record for the longest unicycle rail grind is 10.44 m (34 ft 3in) and was set by Brent Barghahn (USA), in La Crescent, Minnesota, USA, on 17 September 2011.
Lars Clausen (USA) covered 14,686.82 km (9,125.97 miles) by unicycle between 22 April and 12 November 2002. His double crossing of the USA started in Tillamook, Oregon, and finishing in Los Angeles, California, taking in 48 states in between. The ride was a fundraiser for the Seward Peninsula Lutheran Ministry. Clausen is a Pastor. He used a 91 cm (36 in) Coker unicycle with improved seat and pedal cranks of varying lengths depending on the terrain being crossed.
A chain consisting of 251 unicyclists linking arms whilst balanced on their unicycles was formed in Hamm, Germany, on 19 June 2004 at the Hammer Bicycle Action Day.
