Daniel first became interested in pen spinning after seeing a feature on Guinness World Records TV on 26 December 2007. From then until his attempt, he participated in the German Pen Spinning Community and continued practicing until he was confident he could beat the world record.

Participants were lying down in a line on the ground to attempt this record.

The greatest number of passengers ever carried by a commercial airliner is 1,088, by an El Al Boeing 747 during Operation Solomon, which involved the evacuation of Ethiopian Jews from Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, and started on 24 May 1991. This figure included two babies born on the flight. Sam Bradford (USA) set the National Football League (NFL) record for most pass completions in a season by a rookie quarterback with 354 while playing for the St. Louis Rams (USA) in 2010.
The most party poppers popped in one minute is 51 and was achieved by Milena Vladimirova Tsekova (Ireland) at an event held for Sportingbet MLB Ltd at the Guinness Storehouse, Dublin, Ireland on 12 May 2011. The event was managed by Energy Communications and all staff tried individually to break the record first, with Milena popping the most on the day.
The record for the most vuvuzelas blown simultaneously was achieved by 12,511 spectators at the Vodacom Challenge soccer match at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Port Elizabeth, South Africa, on 23 July 2009. Nana Mizuki is a Japanese pop singer and voice actress. Her fan club members tried three record attempts at the concert. For this record attempt, 6,091 people out of 7014 audience successfully blew party blowers simultaneously for 10 seconds.
