The most people running 100 metres in a 1 hour relay was 191 and was achieved by Bank of Scotland (UK) during the Bank of Scotland National School Sport Week at Scotstoun Stadium, Glasgow, Scotland on 7 June 2011. The 191 participants were children aged 10-12 years. They were selected to take part in the record attempt by 36 participating schools. The record for the most surfers riding a single surfboard is 47 people who simultaneously rode a scaled up surfboard measuring 12 m (39 ft 4 in) in length at Snapper Rocks, Queensland, Australia on 5 March 2005. The giant surfboard carrying all the surfers was towed through the water and then once it had gathered enough momentum, was released from the tow ropes and the surfers surfed the board back into shore.

The record for the most people rescued at sea is 4,296 Japanese civilians who were rescued by the crew of the American cargo ship USS Brevard (AK-164) commanded by Lt. John Elliott on 23 January 1946. The civilians were rescued while their cargo ship, the Enoshima Maru, was sinking after the struck a mine off Shanghai, China, in the Yangtze estuary just after the end of the WWII. The record was claimed by a friend of Frank Ottersbach, one member of the USS Brevard crew.

The most people running 100 meters in a 24 hours relay is 4,531 participants and was achieved by Run for Children (Italy) in Prato della Valle, Padova, Italy, on 18 June 2011. The event was organised to raise money for the new children hospital called ‘La citta’ della speranza’, in Padova, Italy. The hospital is being built at the moment and it will be one of the biggest in Europe with a research centre for the study of cancer in children.
