Mummification dates from 2600BC or the 4th dynasty of the Egyptian pharaohs. The oldest complete mummy is of Wati, a court musician of c. 2400BC from the tomb of Nefer in Saqqâra, Egypt, found in 1944.
The oldest motor racing championships still active today is Turismo Carretera (Argentina), the annual championship was first competed for in Argentina, from 5 August 1937. The world’s most expensive bra is the $12.5-million (£8.6-million) Heavenly Star Bra, by Victoria’s Secret, created in 2001. It features 1,200 Sri Lankan pink sapphires and as its centerpiece a 90-carat emerald cut diamond that was worth $10.6 million (£7.3 million) alone at the time. The 2005 Sexy Splendor Fantasy Bra also had a $12.5-million selling price, though in comparative terms its value is less than that of the 2001 bra. The oldest elephant ever was Lin Wang, an Asian elephant (Elephas maximus), who died on 26 February 2003 aged 86, at Taipei Zoo, Taiwan. Grandpa Lin, as he became known, carried supplies through the jungles of Myanmar (formerly Burma) for the Japanese army, during World War II. He was even taken prisoner by the Chinese in 1943. Lin Wang retired to the Zoo in 1954. The average age of an Asian elephant is 60 years.
The oldest IBD outdoor bowls world champion was Henry ‘Wal’ Browning (Australia) who won the 2007 World Championship at Harbord Bowling Club, Sydney, Australia, on 25 October 2007, aged 79 years 169 days. The IBD (International Bowls for the Disabled) is the official federation for disabled competition in outdoor and indoor bowls. They are officially recognised by World Bowls, the international able-bodied federation for the sport. Wal won the world championships in the B2-3 discipline.

Richard Farnsworth (USA, 1920 – 2000) was aged 79 years 167 days when the Academy nominated him for Best Actor for his role as Alvin Straight in The Straight Story (USA 1999) on 15 February 2000. He came out of semi-retirement to play the role and died six months after picking up his Oscar on 6 October 2000.
