Crash tests (most)

By February 2003, W. R. “Rusty” Haight (USA) had endured 718 collisions in cars as a “human crash test dummy”, due to his work as a traffic-collision reconstructionist. In each collision Rusty and the vehicle are fitted with an array of sensors to gather data on the crash. He runs a course to teach law enforcement accident investigators and engineers about understanding crashes, and participates in private or publically funded studies to improve crash safety in vehicles.

Country with the most millionaires

The USA is home to 2,886,200 millionaires, according to figures from the World Wealth Report 2010. A millionaire is defined as an individual with a net worth of at least $1 million in assets other than their primary residence. The number of US millionaires has dropped from a figure of 3,028,000 in the previous year.

Crate climbing – highest

The highest stack of crates climbed is 12.74 metres (41.79 feet), completed by Christof Riesenhuber (Austria) at Haidlmair GmbH in Nußbach, Austria, on 18 September 2009. Christof accomplished this record in 8 minutes and 19 seconds. The dimensions of the crates were 39.4 centimetres in length, 30 centimetres in width, and 26 centimetres in height. Christof stacked 49 beer crates in a single column. Cycling – men’s 1 hour unpaced standing start

Ondrej Sosenka (Czech Republic) covered 49.700 km in one hour in Moscow, Russia, on 19 July 2005, beating the long-standing distance of 49.441 km achieved by Chris Boardman (GB) in Manchester, UK, on 27 October 2000. Sosenka holds the official UCI one-hour record with this time, however Boardman still holds the official UCI one-hour cycling “best performance” track record, with a distance of 56.376 km set on 6 September 1996.

Cycling – most vertical metres in 48 hours

The most vertical metres cycled in 48 hours is 25,346 metres (83,156 ft) and was achieved by Wolfgang Mader (Austria) between Telfs and Mösern, Austria, between 9 and 11 September 2011. Wolfgang cycled up the mountain between Telfs and Mösern 46 times. The distance between Telfs and Mösern is 6 km (3.73 miles) and the vertical distance is 551 metres (1,807 ft 11 in).

Cycling – most vertical metres in 24 hours

The record for the most verical metres cycled in 24 hours is 20,049.9 m (65,780 ft 4 in) and was achieved by Horst and Gernot Turnowsky (both Austria) at the Rinnegger highway, from Weinitzen to St. Radegund, Graz-Umgebund, Austria, from 30 June to 1 July 2007. Horst and Gernot Turnowsky are twins and they made this attempt together during the 24 hours.
