The oldest female waterskier is Edith Murphy (Canada) who, on 11 August 2004, aged 90 years 109 days, water skiied at Lake Vernon, Hunstville, Ontario, Canada. Edith waterskies regularly during the summer months, both on two skis and slalom on a single ski.
The oldest competitive wakeboarder is Linda Brown (United States, b. 10 December 1945) aged 63 yr 227 days when she competed in the Battle of Bull Run Wakeboard Tournament, Smith Mountain Lake, Virginia, United States, on 25 July 2009. Linda competed in the Women’s division and finished 5th overall. In total over 300 wakeboarders took part with estimated crowds of up to 1,000 people during the tournament.
On 12 February 2002, a team of palaeontologists, led by Prof. Peter Doyle (Greenwich University, UK) announced their discovery of the fossilised vomit of an ichthyosaur, a large, fish-like marine reptile. Discovered in a quarry in Peterborough, the 160 million-year-old vomit could provide an insight to the feeding habits of ichthyosaurs. The arrangement of belemnite shells in the vomit suggest that the reptiles may have eaten the shelled creatures whole, and then regurgitated the shells, much in the same way an owl eats a mouse.

The oldest tree known to have been planted by a human rather than by natural seeding is a 2,300-year-old sacred fig or bo-tree (Ficus religiosa) that has been named Sri Maha Bodhiya, and stands in Anuradhapura, Sri Lanka. It was planted there in 288 BC. The mother tree from which this specimen was propagated was none other than the famous Bodhi tree under which Siddhartha Gautama the Lord Buddha was sitting when he gained enlightenment.

At the age of 56 years, Jacilyn Dalenberg (USA) acted as surrogate mother for her daughter, Kim Coseno (USA), and carried and delivered her own grandchildren – three girls. The babies were delivered by caesarian section at Hillcrest Hospital in Cleveland, Ohio, USA, on 11 October 2008.
