The fastest speed ever reached by a vehicle powered through its wheels is 737.794 km/h (458.444 mi/h), by the turbine-powered Vesco Turbinator, driven by Don Vesco (USA) at Bonneville Salt Flats, Utah, USA, on 18 October 2001. Deborah Morris (UK) cleaned three standard 1.14 m x 1.14 m (45 x 45 in) office windows set in a frame with a 300 mm (11.75 in) long squeegee and 9 litres (2 gal; US 2.37 gal) of water in 16.28 sec at the Cleaning Show 2011 held at NEC, National Exhibition Centre, in Birmingham, UK, on 3 March 2011. A base time of 13.28 sec was achieved but 3 sec penalty was incurred.

Terry Burrows (UK) cleaned three standard 114.3 x 114.3 cm (45 x 45 in) office windows set in a frame with a 300 mm (11.75 in) long squeegee and 9 litres (2 gal; US 2.37 gal) of water in 9.14 sec at the National Window Cleaning Competition in Blackpool, UK, on 9 October 2009.

The Kimbanguist Church was founded in the Democratic Republic of Congo (ex-Zaire) in 1959 by a Baptist student, Simon Kimbangui. By 1996 the Church, which is a member of the World Council of Churches, had over 6.5 million members.

Fastest wing-beat of a bird

During courtship, the ruby-throated hummingbird (Archilochus colubris) can produce a wingbeat rate of 200 beats per second as opposed to the normal 90 beats per second produced by all other hummingbirds. The back and head of the hummingbird are irridescent green, the underparts are white, and the males’ throat is bright red. It is very small, only 3 in (7 cm) long and breeds from March-July. Hummingbirds in general possess the fewest number of feathers on a bird.

Fastest-melting glacier

A volcanic eruption under Vatnajokul glacier (Europe’s largest), Iceland, in October 1996 topped Lake Grimsvotn with meltwater.  The meltwater flowed from the lake at an estimated 45,000m3/sec (1.6 million ft3/sec), making it the greatest melting of a glacier in recorded history.
