He was witnessed by Dr. Alexander Fulop and Mr. Ekagra Prankl. The official stopwatch times were 7 min, 55.47 sec and 7 min, 55.66 sec, with the average rounded up to 7 min 56 sec. Furman wore fins that were 58 cm (22.68 in) long, more than twice the length of his 27.4 cm (10.8 in) foot, as required.
