Fastest production car 0-300 km/h

This is certainly a record for which you should be wearing a seatbelt.

The fastest time for a production car to travel from 0 – 300 km/h (0-186 mph) was 13.63 seconds, achieved by a Hennessey Venom GT.

Manufactured by Hennessey Performance (USA), the record-breaking Venom was driven by John Kiewicz at Ellington Field in Houston, Texas, USA, on 10 January 2013.

The Hennessey Venom GT’s first lap of 0-300 km/h was recorded in a time of 13.18 seconds with a 6.5km/h tailwind and the second lap 14.08 seconds with a 9.7km/h headwind, for an average record-breaking time of 13.63 seconds.

Powered by a 7-liter, V8 engine capable of an awe-inspiring 1,244 hp, the Hennessey Venom GT smashed the acceleration record.

“We are exceptionally proud of our team at HPE who helped to make this new Guinness World Record[s feat] possible,” said Hennessey Performance president and founder John Hennessey. “It was a great moment, but this is just the beginning and we plan to set a few more speed records as part of our Venom GT validation process.”

Hennessey Performance is headquartered in Sealy, Texas – about 45 minutes west of Houston.  The main 30,000 sq. ft. facility is situated on 143 acres.

The latest Venom GT model claims a 0-60 mph tie in 2.7 seconds, and a standing mile speed of 253 mph. It generates 1155 lb-ft @ 4400 rpm of torque and redlines at 7,200 rpm.

Its curb weight sits at 2,743 lb (1,244 kg) and the Venom GT can hold 18.5 gallons (70 liters) of gas.

For those looking to order the Venom GT, additional optional upgrades include bare carbon fiber finish, right-hand drive ability, and even a stereo system designed by Steven Tyler of Aerosmith fame.

“The Venom GT simply expresses the supercar I have always dreamed of building: A nimble, lightweight, mid-engine chassis with a powerful American V8 engine and a maximum power-to-weight ratio as its cornerstone.”
