Fastest time to cycle the length of South America

Giampietro Marion (Italy) cycled the South American portion of the Pan-American Highway, starting in Chigorodo, Colombia and finishing in Ushuaia, Argentina, in a time of 59 days between 17 September and 15 November 2000.

Chigorodo is the closest town (and road) geographically to the border with Panama, and is therefore a logical starting point for an attempt on the South American portion of the Pan-American highway.
