The fastest time to shear a single mature sheep is 39.31 seconds by Hilton Barrett (Australia) at the Wellington Show 2010 in Wellington, New South Wales, Australia, on 1 May 2010.

The record was set as part of a competition at the annual show, in which six different participants had two chances each to attempt to break the world record. Barrett was the only one to finish with a time below 40 seconds.
