The largest chess piece ever was made by Mats Allanson (Sweden) and is a king which is 4 m ( 13.1 ft) high and 1.4 m (4.5 ft) in diameter at the base.

The king is one of four made by Mats, the others are the bishop, pawn and rock in proportion to the king. All were made out of wood and hand-finished.
