China has the longest high-speed rail network (routes with an average speed of 200 km/h -124.27 mph- or higher) with 7,531 km (4,679.54 miles) of track in service as of January 2011, according to the Chinese Ministry of Railways. A further 17,000 km (10,563.29 miles) of track is currently under construction, which by 2015 will extend China’s high-speed network beyond 25,000 km (15,534.25 miles).
