Largest hourglass

The largest hourglass stands 1.06m. (42 in.) tall with a diameter of 38.1 cm. (15 in.) Built by Bob Ciscell of Evansville, Indiana, USA, it contains 29.4 kg. (65 pounds) of sand which takes eight hours to run through.

Professor of Education at the University of Evansville, Robert Ciscell was inspired to write into Guinness World Records by his 13-year-old son. His hourglass has a total weight of 49.8 kg. (110 pounds), with 29.4 kg. (65 pounds) of sand, 13.6 kg. (30 pounds) of glass and 6.8 kg. (15 pounds) of wood.
