The largest knitted hat measures 6.90 metres (22 ft 7 in) in height and 15.05 metres (49 ft 4 in) in circumference and was created by volunteers from all over Europe. It was assembled and presented in Puchheim, Germany, on 5 October 2008.

It took around 3000 work hours to be completed. The finished hat weighs 116 kg and is assembled out of 978 single pieces.
