The largest litter bin mosaic was made up of 6,401 litter bins and was achieved by Trenntstadt Berlin (Germany) at the former Tempelhof Airport in Berlin, Germany, on 18 September 2010.
Trenntstadt is a company that tackles waste prevention and recycling in Berlin, Germany.
The mosaic measured 2,464 square metres (26,522 square feet 24 square inches) and was created as part of ‘Clean Tech World’, a trade fair focussing on environmental issues such as recycling and renewable energy sources.
The mosaic, made out of different coloured wheelie bins used for separating recyclable materials, depicted a polar bear, one of the species most at risk from global warming as the polar ice, its natural habitat, melts.
