The record for the largest ensemble of Matouqin consisted of 2008 musicians and was set in Qianguoerluosi Mongolian Autonomous County,Songyuan City, Jilin Province, China, on 15 July 2008.

The record event was also part of the celebration of the Beijing 2008 Olympic Torch relay in Songyuan City, Jilin province, China.
The oldest Matouqin player was 59 year old, the youngest one was 8 years old.The players played two songs, which last more than 7 minutes.
