The largest speed mixer event consisted of 288 participants and was achieved by The Buried Life with Verizon Wireless Careers and The University of South Florida Center for Student Involvement (USA) on the campus of the University of South Florida in Tampa, Florida, USA, on 25 April 2012.

The record attempt was made in association with The Buried Life, a reality documentary series on MTV that chronicled attempting to complete a list of “100 things to do before you die.” Two cast members, Ben Nemtin and Dave Lingwood, took part in the record attempt which included twenty 3 minute discussions on the topic “what they would like to do before they die.”
