Longest chain of scarves/neckerchiefs

The longest chain of scarves/neckerchiefs was 6,552 m 60 cm (21,498 ft), was made using 6,500 scarves, and was achieved by 194 Campaign in Beirut, Lebanon, on 15 May 2010.

The scarves used were traditional Palestinian scarves called ‘Kofeyeh’, made famous by Yasser Arafat, and they were arranged into the numbers 194, the UN resolution known as ‘Right of Return’.

The event was organised to mark the anniversary of ‘Nakba Day’, held every May 15, the day after the anniversary of Israel’s Independence according to the Gregorian calendar. The day marks the expulsion and flight of Palestinians from their towns and villages in the face of Jewish and later Israeli troop advances, their displacement from Palestine, and the loss of their property.
