Longest continual TV subtitling (live)

The longest, continual, live subtitling for a TV programme lasted for 44 hours. The BBC Broadcast Subtitling Unit (UK) began subtitling the BBC’s live news coverage of the war in Iraq at 3 a.m. on 20 March and finished at 11 p.m. on 21 March 2003.

The unit comprised of 12 stenographers working on various shifts at BBC Television Centre, London, UK and via remote access at the stenographer’s homes (all in the UK). The subtitling was presented on BBC News 24 and BBC 1 news.
