The longest journey by canoe or kayak was made by Blue Peter presenter Helen Skelton (UK) who paddled 2010 miles (3234.79 km) from the confluence of the Rio Maranon and Rio Ucayali, Peru to St. John in the Amazon Delta, Brazil from 20 January to 28 February 2010 in aid of Sport Relief.

Helen paddled in a kayak called the Anne Marie – she is also thought to be the first woman to paddle down the Amazon.
