Longest raft snake

A total of 56 hand-made rafts were connected together in a single line and floated for 1.6 km (1 mile) down the Tokachi River near Obihiro, Japan, on 28 July 2002, as part of the 30th anniversary celebrations of the Tokachi River Rafting organisation.

Each raft was paddled by four crew members. All the rafts were identical, consisting of a wooden deck supported by four vehicle inner tubes. The length of the ‘snake’ was 136 m (446 ft).
