EA’s NHL series began with NHL Hockey, which was released in August 1991 for the SEGA Genesis and was considered to be the most realistic hockey game of its time. The game’s phenomenal success has sparked 19 annual iterations up to 2009’s NHL 10 and the series shows no sign of slowing down yet.
