Wolfgang Muller (Canada) underwent a single lung transplant at Toronto General Hospital, Ontario, Canada, on 15 September 1987 and became the longest surviving lung transplant recipient on 19 July 2004 at 16 years 307 days.

As of 31 January 2005 – he has survived the transplant for 17 years 138 days.
