Most distant black hole

In June 2007, a team of astronomers announced that results from the Canada-France-Hawaii Telescope (CFHT) and the Gemini South 8m-class telescope had revealed a Quasar containing a supermassive Black Hole with a redshift of 6.43. Named CFHQS J2329-0301, the Quasar is located in the constellation of Pisces and is estimated to be 2 million light years further away from Earth than the previous record holder. Astronomers recognise that the enormous energy emitted by Quasars can only have been produced by large amounts of matter falling into a Black Hole, especially at the distance of CFHQS J2329-0301, which at a little under 13 billion Light Years distance is only 0.7 billion years younger than the estimated age of the Universe itself from the moment of the Big Bang.
