Most effective body armour

The UK defence company, BAE Systems, revealed, in July 2010, a revolutionary new type of body armour. The secret lies in a secret substance, likened to “bullet-proof custard”, properly named a “shear thickening fluid, because the molecules lock together and thicken when struck, in the same way that a custard sauce reacts when stirred. When coated on current body armour made up of ceramic plates and layered Kevlar, tests using 31 layers of untreated Kevlar and 10 layers of Kevlar combined with the secret liquid have shown that the Kevlar with the liquid reacts much faster and the impact is not nearly so deep. The advantage of this latest development is that body armour will be much lighter, more effective and allow soldiers much greater manoeuvrability in the future.
