A former Soviet citizen, Tatyana Mikhailovna Russanova, now living in Haifa, Israel, escaped from various Stalin labour camps in the former Soviet Union on 15 occasions between 1943 and 1954, being recaptured and sentenced 14 times.

All of the escapes are judicially recognized by independent Russian lawyers, although only nine are recognized by Soviet Supreme Court officials.
