Most official Olympic mascots

In November 2005, the Beijing Organizing Committee for the Games of the XXIX Olympiad (BOCOG), introduced their five official mascots for the 2008 Games – the highest number since the competition began. These five Fuwa, as they are known, are cartoon depictions of: a carp (Beibei), a panda (Jingjing), the Olympic flame (Huanhuan), a Tibetan antelope (Yingying) and a swallow (Nini), which symbolise the sea, forests, fire, earth and air, and whose names, when put together in Chinese, read ‘Bejing Welcomes You!’
