A Trompo or Whipping Top is a toy popular in Latin America (in Spain it is known as “peonza” or “trompa”, in Japan as “Koma”, with different designs in different cities). It has a pear-shaped body and is usually made of wood, although new resins and strong plastic materials have also been used.
