Sachin Tendulkar (b. 24 April 1973, India) has scored 14,240 runs in his Test match career (280 innings, average 56.96 runs per innings), including six double hundreds, since making his debut as a 16-year-old on 15 November 1989.
Note by consultant Matthew White (October 2011): Tendulkar’s other Test records include most Test matches played (171) and most Test match 100s (49). Tendulkar, named the International Cricket Council’s (ICC’s) cricketer of the year for 2009-10, has topped the ICC’s player rankings for Test batsmen on nine occasions during his career: eight times between 1994 and 2002 and again in 2010 after helping India beat Australia in their two-match 2010 series in India.
