Longest staple chain

The longest chain of staples measures 173.99 m (570 ft 10 in) and was built by the staff of Staples Bathurst (Canada). It was presented and measured in Bathurst, Canada, on 23 July 2011. The attempt was part of the 20th anniversary of Staples Canada where a contest was held between the single stores to see who can come up with the most original celebration. Staples in Bathurst decided to break a Guinness World Record.

Longest surviving quintuple heart bypass patient

The longest surviving quintuple heart bypass patient is Chris Daly (Canada, b. 25 December 1918) who underwent surgery at the St. Boniface General Hospital in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, on 5 October 1980, and as of 21 October 2010 has survived 30 years and 16 days. Chris Daly continues to live an active life and even ran a marathon at age 85.

Longest surviving single lung transplant patient

Wolfgang Muller (Canada) underwent a single lung transplant at Toronto General Hospital, Ontario, Canada, on 15 September 1987 and became the longest surviving lung transplant recipient on 19 July 2004 at 16 years 307 days. As of 31 January 2005 – he has survived the transplant for 17 years 138 days.

Longest tandem ATV wheelie

The longest tandem ATV wheelie measured 2,029.97m (6,660 ft) and was completed by Roger LeBlanc and Jeff Gallant (both Canada) at Riverglade Speedway in Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada, on 12 November 2011. Not satisfied with just breaking the record, Le Blanc and Gallant managed to cover a distance over 8 times longer than the previous record holder.

Longest triple ATV wheelie

The longest triple ATV wheelie measured 1,217.07 m (3,993 ft) and was completed by Roger, Madelaine and Dominique LeBlanc (all Canada) at Riverglade Speedway in Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada, on 12 November 2011. Roger LeBlanc also holds the record for the longest tandem ATV wheelie.

Longest waterfall descent, Canoe

The longest descent over a waterfall by canoe is 32.6 m (107 ft) by Tyler Bradt (United States) at the Alexandra Falls, Hay River, North West Territories, Canada, on 7 September 2007. Tyler achieved the descent by staying to the far left of the waterfall and landing in the safety zone (where the water pushes away from the waterfall’s base). Fellow kayaker Rush Sturges also attempted this record but failed to stay in his kayak.

Longest wheelstand (wheelie) by a car

The longest wheelstand (wheelie) by a car is 763.4m (2504 feet 7 inches) achieved by “Nitro” Mike Kunz (Canada) at the Timiskaming Drag ‘n Fly Summer Classic in Earlton, Ontario, Canada, on 12 August 2012. Kunz drives a customized PT Cruiser designed for popping wheelies. The vehicle features a cutout in the floorboards allowing for a proper view of the track and control of the car when riding on the two back wheels.

Longest winter road

The ‘Wapusk Trail’ road (752 km (467 miles) in length) constructed each year between Gillam, Manitoba, and Peawanuk, Ontario, Canada, is thought to be the longest seasonal winter road in the world. Constructed each January on snow and ice, it gives road access for a few weeks to remote settlements around Hudson Bay until the warmer March weather forces its closure. These settlements are normally only accessible by air. Wapusk is Cree (a Canadian First Nation) for Polar Bear.
