The shortest time taken to reach the three extreme points of the Earth: Mt Everest, the North Pole and the South Pole (also known as the Three Poles) is 1 yr 217 days, and was achieved by Adrian Hayes (UK). Mr Hayes summitted Mt Everest on 25 May 2006, reached the North Pole on 25 April 2007 (from Ward Hunt Island, Canada), and finally claimed the South Pole, journeying from the Hercules Inlet, on 28 December 2007 .
Giampietro Marion (Italy) cycled the South American portion of the Pan-American Highway, starting in Chigorodo, Colombia and finishing in Ushuaia, Argentina, in a time of 59 days between 17 September and 15 November 2000. Chigorodo is the closest town (and road) geographically to the border with Panama, and is therefore a logical starting point for an attempt on the South American portion of the Pan-American highway.
The fastest time to dry bob six marshmallows is 30 seconds and was achieved by Beatrice Boue (France) at the World Trade Centre, Barcelona, Spain, on 14 May 2010. Beatrice was guided in her attempt by Terry McParlane (Australia).

The countries were visited in 26 separate trips. All the journeys were travelled using public transport, mostly by aeroplane but some bus and train journeys also.
