StarChase is a tracking system developed by the US company of the same name. It is a small cannon designed to be mounted on a police car or handheld, which fires a golf ball-sized sticky projectile at a vehicle being pursued by law-enforcement personnel. The projectile contains a small GPS tracker, receiver and power supply and allows the police to track fugitives without having to directly follow their vehicle in a car chase.
The earliest Guinness World Record in a MMORPG was for the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning, which is an annual fund-raising event for Macmillan Cancer Support. On 28 September 2007, residents of Second Life joined in the coffee morning, which also saw the opening of the Second Life Macmillan cancer information centre within the virtual world.
The Chillstream range of controllers from Logitech have an integrated fan system that blows air through the vents in the pad to keep gamers’ hands cool. The Chillstream was designed for added comfort during extended gameplay sessions. It wasn’t well received, however, and some gamers derrided the controller as an ineffective gimmick.
