Largest cork mosaic

The largest cork mosaic measures 154.80 m² (1,666 ft² 36 in²) and was created by Magazine Saveurs du Voyage, published by SemFor (France), in Bordeaux, France, on 14 June 2014. The mosaic was inspired by the first issue of the magazine, dedicated to the Aquitaine region.

Largest fashion show audience

The Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show held at Cannes on 18 May 2000, was watched by more than two million people around the world who logged onto VictoriasSecret.com. Featuring models Tyra Banks, Karen Mulder and Stephanie Seymour, it was hosted by Elizabeth Taylor and Elton John and raised over $2 million (£1¼ million ) for the America Foundation for AIDS Research.

Largest family reunion

The largest family reunion is 4,514 and was achieved by the Porteau-Boileve family at Saint-Paul-Mont-Pénit, Vendée, France, on 12 August 2012. The family tree traced by Jean-Michel Cheneau, direct descendant of Georges Porteau and Madeleine Boileve, shows that the family were founded by this couple in the 17th century.

Largest feet on a living person – male

If cases of elephantiasis are excluded, then the biggest feet currently known are those of Brahim Takioullah (Morocco, b.1982) whose left foot measures 38.1 cm (1 ft 3 in) and right foot measures 37.5 cm (1 ft 2.76 in). The measurements were taken in Paris, France, on 24 May 2011. Brahim Takioullah is also the 2nd tallest man after Sultan Kösen. He was measured by Dr Philippe Chanson.

Largest invasion

The greatest invasion in military history was the Allied land, air and sea operation against the Normandy coast of France on D-Day, 6 June 1944. On the first three days 38 convoys of 745 ships moved in, supported by 4,066 landing craft carrying 185,000 men and 20,000 vehicles, and 347 minesweepers. The air assault comprised 18,000 paratroopers from 1,087 aircraft. The 42 available divisions had air support from 13,175 aircraft. Within a month 1,100,000 troops, 200,000 vehicles and 750,000 tons of stores were landed.

Largest nougat

The largest nougat weighs 1,300 kg (2,866 lb) and was made by Jerome Guigon and Bernard Morin (France) of the company Maître Gourmet, in Montélimar, France, on 20 June 2005. Largest number of surnames

With around one million patronymics, France is the country with the largest number of surnames in the world. It is estimated that 200,000 names have dissapeared over the last century while 520,000 new surnames have appeared. The study was published in The Atlas of Surnames, in France. It states that, since 1891, 100 people were born with the name Grenouille (frog), some of whom have changed it to the better sounding Deletang (from the pond). Largest parade of military motorcycles

The largest parade of military motorcycles consisted of 144 motorcycles that where all manufactured during the Second World War. The parade was organized by Peter Brown (UK) and took place between Vers sur Mer and Asnelles, France, on 6 June 2009. The witnesses, who were experts in the field, confirmed that all motorcycles were indeed military motorcycles, and not just manufactured during World War 2. The parade was held in commemoration of the D-Day landing 65 years ago.
