The tallest sandcastle measured 11.53 m (37 ft 10 in) and was created by Ed Jarrett at Winding Trails Recreation Area in Farmington, Connecticut, USA, on 20 May 2011.

1.6 million pounds (800 tn) of sand and water was used in the construction of the sandcastle. 1,400 individuals volunteered for 3,000 hours for this project. The event began on 1 April and finished on 20 May 2011.
