The youngest individuals to sail across the Indian Ocean in tandem are James Thysse (b. 8 December 1986) and Jamie Facer Childs (b. 11 July 1987) (both UK), who commenced the journey on 19 April 2009, aboard the Southern Cross, aged 22 years 4 months 12 days, and 21 years 9 months 9 days respectively, and reaching land on 31 July 2009.
