Highest living predator on land

The highest living land predator is the snow leopard (Uncia uncia) whose range extends across twelve countries in the mountainous regions of Central and southern Asia. Amongst the highest altitudes at which this rarely-seen cat has been photographed is by cameras hidden at 5,800 m (19,000 ft). Highest library

The library on the 60th floor of the JW Marriott Hotel at Tomorrow Square in Shanghai, China, is situated at 230.9 m (757 ft 6 in) above street level. Membership is available to members of the public and the 103 shelves in the library contains an ever-expanding collection of Chinese and English books. The library measures 57 m² (614 ft²). To walk to the library from the lobby would entail climbing around 1,435 steps.

Highest marathon

The highest start to a marathon is for the biennially-held Everest Marathon, first run on 27 November 1987. It begins at Gorak Shep, 5,212 m (17,100 ft) and ends at Namche Bazar, 3,444 m (11,300 ft). The fastest times to complete this race are, men 3 hrs 50 mins 23 secs by Hari Roka (Nepal) in 2000, and women 4 hrs 35 mins 4 secs by Anna Frost (New Zealand) in 2009. Highest manmade RPM

Researchers at ETH Zurich´s Department of Power Electronics announced in November 2008 that they had created a drive system which can spin at a rate of one million revolutions per minute. The drive system has a titanium shell which prevents it from flying apart at these rotational speeds.

Highest man-dog parachute deployment

Mike Forsythe (USA) and his working dog Cara dived from an aircraft and deployed a parachute at the record altitude of 30,100 ft (9,174 m). Cara was strapped to Forsythe ­ a trainer for U.S. Special Operations Units in a K9 Storm aerial insertion vest, a harness specially designed for dogs of war deployed on aerial missions. Highest misty flip on inline skates

The highest misty flip on inline skates is 2.08 m (6 ft 10 in) and was achieved by Steve Swain (UK) on the set of Guinness World Records – Smashed, in London, UK, on 23 April 2009. A misty flip is a 180 degree twist while doing a somersault. The contestant used a quarter pipe as acceleration ramp and a launch ramp which was 1.6 m high. Highest military base

The world’s highest military base belongs to India and is at a height of approximately 6,000 m (19,685 ft) on the Siachen Glacier in the state of Kashmir. Troops are regularly deployed to 6,700 m (21,981 ft) on the glacier during the on-going conflict with Pakistan over the state of Kashmir.
