The largest advertising hoarding measures 436,250 m². It was produced by Betfair, using plants such as mustard, poppies and marigolds to create the slogan “No.1 for football and still growing!”. It was completed on 1 June 2008. The sides of the advertisement measured 1,355.1 m (4445 ft 7 in) 1,340.9 m (4396 ft 4 in), 334.6 m (1095 ft 10 in) and 313 m (1026 ft 11 in).
FedEx (USA) is the world’s largest carrier of air freight in the world, according to the International Air Transport Association (IATA). In 2004 the company flew 14,579 million freight tonne kilometres. Korean Air Lines (South Korea) is in second place with 8,264 million, and Lufthansa (Germany) is in third with 8,040 million.
The largest agate measures 61,090.2 kg (134,680.84 lb) and was verified at an event organized by the Development & Reform Commission of Fuxin Municipal Government in Fuxin City, Liaoning Province, China, on 25 October 2009. The agate measures 22.62 cubic meters(798.82 cubic feet). It is 2.71 m( 8 ft 10.69 in) from top to low, 5.09 m (16 ft 8.39 in) from left to right and 4.69 m (15 ft 4.65 in) from front to back.
The largest afro measures 18.5 cm (7.3 in) high, 19.6 cm (7.7 in) wide and 132.1 cm (4 ft 4 in) in circumference and was achieved by Aevin Dugas (USA), in New Orleans, USA on 4 October 2010. Aevin entered and won the competition run by www.nappturality.com, a hair care website.
The aircraft with the highest standard maximum take-off weight is the Antonov An-225 “Mriya” (Dream) at 600 tonnes (1.32 million lb). A heavy-lift version of the standard Antonov An-124 “Ruslan” cargo plane, only two of these behemoths were ever built. It was built in the Ukraine (when part of the USSR) to carry the former Soviet space shuttle Buran. It has a wing span of 88.4 m (290 ft) – the greatest of any aircraft currently flying. The An-225 first flew on 21 December 1988.

Nasa’s (USA) Stratospheric Observatory for Infrared Astronomy is a Boeing 747SP fitted with an infrared telescope with a 2.7m-wide (8.85 ft) primary mirror. ‘First light’ for the telescope occurred on 18 August 2004. ‘First light’ is the term used when a scientific observation instrument, such as a telescope, is first tested – ie the first light hits the detectors.
The largest air guitar ensemble was 2,377 participants, and was organized by San Manuel Indian Bingo & Casino (USA) at San Manuel Indian Bingo & Casino in Highland, California, USA, on 22 September 2011. The attempt was led by professional air guitarist Dan Crane (aka Bjorn Turoque), and was held during the casino’s annual “Rock n’ Roll Bingo Night” held in conjunction with local rock station KCAL-FM.
The aircraft with the largest wingspan ever constructed is the Hughes H4 Hercules flying boat, more commonly known as the Spruce Goose. The eight-engined 193-tonne aircraft has a wing span of 97.51 m (319 ft 11 in) and a length of 66.65 m (218 ft 8 in). It was raised 21.3 m (70 ft) into the air in a test run of 914 m (3,000 ft) , piloted by Howard Hughes (1905-76), off Long Beach Harbor, California, USA on 2 November 1947, but never flew
