Largest carillon

The largest carillon (minimum 23 bells) in the world is the Hyechon College Carillon, Seo-ku, Taejon, South Korea, with 78 bells. A Carillon is an instrument that consists of brass bells fixed to a frame, played by keyboard and pedals. The bells for this example were made by Petit & Fritsen in The Netherlands, and have a range of five octaves. The instrument took two years to construct, and the heaviest bell, the Bourdonbell, weighs 10 tonnes.

Largest Carolina shag dance

The largest Carolina shag dance was achieved by 744 participants at an event organised by Society of Stranders and the Association of Carolina Shag Clubs (both USA) at the North Myrtle Beach Aquatic and Fitness Center in North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, USA, on 24 September 2011. The dance was performed to “Something Smooth” by Rick Strickland.

Rio de Janeiro’s annual carnival, normally held during the first week of March, attracts approximately two million people each day. In 2004, the carnival attracted a record 400,000 foreign visitors of which it was thought 2,600 were from the Queen Mary II. In 1998, the four day event generated £100million ($165million). A seat in the Sambadrome for one of the parades costs between £180 and £360 ($300 and $600).

The largest carpet of flowers/plants is 10,712.75 m² (115,311 ft²) and was created by Landscaping & Irrigation Department, Royal Commission of Yanbu (Saudi Arabia), in Yanbu, Saudi Arabia, on 24 February 2014. The flowers/plant carpet was part of opening the 8th year of Yanbu flower festival. For the carpet, approximately 960,000 plants were used with each plant producing 10-12 flowers.

The largest hybrid of the cat family (Felidae) is the liger (no scientifc name), which is the offspring of a male lion and a tigress.
